On January 9, 2025, the Global Engagements Office (GEO) facilitated a webinar in collaboration with Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK) in Finland. The online session gathered students from UC’s Colleges of Nursing, Business Administration, Engineering and Architecture, Information Technology and Computer Science, and Accountancy.
During the webinar, VAMK representatives introduced their university, highlighting academic programs, research opportunities, and scholarships available to international students. They emphasized that several degree programs are taught in English, making study in Finland more accessible and appealing to Filipino students.
Following the presentation, Dr. Christian Pascual, Director of GEO, met virtually with the VAMK team to discuss potential collaborations, including student exchanges, faculty partnerships, and joint research initiatives. Both institutions expressed enthusiasm for exploring future areas of cooperation.
The webinar provided UC students with valuable insights into international study opportunities in Europe and strengthened UC’s growing network of global academic partnerships. It also reflects GEO’s ongoing commitment to connecting UC’s colleges with international institutions for enhanced learning and mobility.
This initiative advances several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4: Quality Education, by expanding access to global learning pathways; SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering collaborative linkages between UC and VAMK; and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by enhancing students’ global competencies and employability through exposure to international education systems.
