On February 4, 2025, the Global Engagements Office (GEO) welcomed the team from Fulbright Philippines and EducationUSA for an in-person information session held at the University of the Cordilleras (UC). The event brought together undergraduate students, faculty members, and staff eager to learn about scholarship and study opportunities in the United States. The visiting team included Ms. Kyla Cuerpo, Ms. Kath Tansengco, and Ms. Rochell Miguel, representing both Fulbright and EducationUSA.
The session began with welcoming remarks from Dr. Ariel Pumecha, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research, followed by the introduction of the guest speakers. Ms. Kath Tansengco opened the presentations with an overview of Fulbright Philippines’ scholarship programs, detailing available awards and guiding participants through the application process. EducationUSA then presented its advising services, highlighting the comprehensive support and resources available to students aspiring to study at U.S. institutions.
A panel discussion and an engaging open forum featuring Fulbright alumni capped the event. Alumni shared their personal experiences, offered practical insights, and encouraged potential applicants to pursue international academic pathways with confidence.
The collaboration with Fulbright Philippines and EducationUSA further strengthens UC’s institutional partnerships with U.S. educational organizations and enhances opportunities for international academic mobility for both students and faculty. The initiative aligns with the University’s commitment to fostering global engagement and expanding access to meaningful learning experiences beyond national borders.
This activity also supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting access to global scholarships and academic programs; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, by enabling equitable participation in international education regardless of background; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening collaboration between UC and U.S.-based programs such as Fulbright Philippines and EducationUSA. Through this continued partnership, the University of the Cordilleras reaffirms its commitment to cultivating globally competent learners and building strong, impactful international linkages.
