UC Hosts Information Session on Taiwan’s INTENSE Program for Global Career Opportunities

On March 17, 2025, the Global Engagements Office (GEO) organized an information session on the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program), conducted by the International Talent Circulation Base (INTACT Base) from Taiwan. The session was attended by UC students from the Engineering, Finance, Forensic Science, and Business programs, who were eager to explore international education and career opportunities abroad.

The INTENSE Program, a Taiwanese government initiative, is designed to cultivate global talent for Taiwan’s growing semiconductor and finance industries. It offers a unique combination of academic training, industry exposure, and career placement, supported by scholarships funded jointly by the Taiwanese government and participating enterprises.

During the session, Ms. Joy Fojas, General Manager of INTACT Base in the Philippines, provided an in-depth presentation on the program’s objectives, benefits, application process, and eligibility requirements. Mr. Tsai Yung Ting, INTACT Base Mandarin language instructor, encouraged students to take Mandarin courses to better prepare for scholarship applications and integration into Taiwan’s academic and professional environments.

The session offered UC students practical insights into global career pathways and the opportunities available through Taiwan’s education-industry partnerships. It also strengthened UC’s internationalization efforts by connecting students to high-demand global industries and fostering readiness for both professional and cultural exchange.

This initiative contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing access to international academic and industry-based learning; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by preparing graduates for emerging global industries; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by aligning education with technological advancement; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration between UC and Taiwan’s INTACT Base to promote global talent development and cross-border education.
