Dr. Jevilyn Pasi-wen Madalang of the College of Criminal Justice Education proudly represented the University of the Cordilleras (UC) and the Philippines at the YSEALI (Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative) Women’s Leadership Academy (WLA) 2025, held in Thailand on July 25-30, 2025.

Selected as one of only 57 emerging leaders from across ASEAN and Timor-Leste, out of over 6,000 applicants, Dr. Madalang joined intensive workshops and discussions on artificial intelligence, digital innovations, entrepreneurship, and women’s leadership.

During the program’s “Women Talk” segment, she shared her advocacy on victimization studies and women empowerment, emphasizing the role of education and leadership in advancing social justice and gender equity.

Dr. Madalang’s participation underscores UC’s ongoing commitment to nurturing leaders who create meaningful impact within and beyond the classroom, embodying the spirit of global citizenship and empowerment.

This engagement supports SDG 5: Gender Equality by empowering women leaders and amplifying female voices in policy and innovation; SDG 4: Quality Education through capacity-building and leadership development; and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by promoting representation and inclusion in leadership across ASEAN.
