UC Strengthens Internationalization through Fulbright Roadshow

The University of the Cordilleras (UC) brought the opportunities of the prestigious Fulbright programs directly to its home campus. The Fulbright Roadshow was held at the UC Theater last February 11, 2026, drawing a diverse group of faculty members and staff from various colleges, the UC-Integrated School, and university offices.

The session was facilitated by Dr. Christian Pascual, Director of the Global Engagements Office (GEO), who opened the event by sharing his personal journey as a Fulbright scholar. His welcome note underscored how international academic experiences can return to benefit the university’s own classrooms and research departments.

Ms. Kathrina Tansengco from Program Officer at Fulbright Philippines provided a comprehensive technical briefing, detailing the various scholarship programs, application timelines, and the specific requirements and processes involved in securing a grant. This was followed by a dynamic panel discussion featuring Fulbright alumni Mr. Jefrey Honrado, Mr. Mark Lopez, Ms. Anne Cabanilla, and Ms. Nela Florendo, alongside current Fulbright Scholar Prof. Thomas Tobin. The panel addressed critical concerns from the UC community, including visa coverage, the academic rigors of the United States education system, and practical tips for crafting competitive application essays.

By hosting this roadshow, UC continues to demonstrate its commitment to the professional growth of its educators and personnel, ensuring they are well-equipped to lead the university toward further internationalization.

This initiative aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education by fostering professional development and higher learning opportunities for educators within the UC system. The roadshow also supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by enhancing the skills and global competitiveness of the university’s workforce. Furthermore, the event advances SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through the sustained collaboration between the UC and the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (Fulbright Philippines).
