UC CHTM and GEO Facilitate Virtual SIAP Orientation

Ensuring a seamless transition from the classroom to the global stage, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) conducted a comprehensive follow-up orientation for the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) last March 28, 2026. Organized by the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) in collaboration with the Global Engagements Office (GEO), the virtual session brought together 62 student interns and their guardians via Zoom.

The orientation served as a critical briefing on the technical and logistical requirements for upcoming deployments to Taiwan, a premier destination for world-class hospitality training. Dr. Christian Pascual, GEO Director, opened the program by outlining the SIAP framework and emphasizing the strategic importance of international exposure in the modern hospitality industry.

A key highlight of the session was the detailed briefing provided by Mr. Samson Liu, CEO of Dreamark TW, who explained the application process and the specific benefits offered by host hotels in Taiwan and Dreamark TW. To bridge the gap between expectation and reality, SIAP alumni Mr. Rev and Mr. Wendel shared their firsthand experiences, offering practical advice on professional life and cultural adaptation abroad.

The session, facilitated by OJT Coordinators Mr. Ruel Ramirez and Ms. Cristina Mirasol, concluded with an extensive Q&A. This dialogue allowed parents and guardians to clarify essential details regarding financial obligations, insurance coverage, and graduation timelines. Mr. Nolan Guilliao, CHTM Program Chair, closed the event by reaffirming the university’s commitment to supporting every student’s journey toward becoming a globally competitive professional.

This orientation directly advances UC’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By bridging local education with international industry standards, the activity supports Goal 4: Quality Education. It further promotes Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing students for high-standard global labor markets. Finally, the event reinforces Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through the sustained and successful collaboration between the University of the Cordilleras and Dreamark TW.
