UC Explores Global Academic Pathways with Australian and Canadian Institutions

The Global Engagements Office (GEO) recently facilitated a meet-and-greet session between the academic leadership of the University of the Cordilleras (UC) and a consortium of nine premier international institutions from Australia and Canada. Held on May 6, 2026, the session focused on matching international academic strengths with the strategic goals of UC’s various colleges.

The meeting, represented by Aussie Pinoy Edu.Com Corp (APECC), brought together UC Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ariel Nimo Pumecha, academic deans, and program heads to explore diverse internationalization models, including student and faculty exchanges, articulation agreements, and Transnational Education (TNE) programs.

Highlights of Global Collaboration Opportunities:

Australian Partnerships

  • Discussions with Western Sydney University, Griffith University, and Australian Catholic University opened doors for high-level collaborations in Criminology, Nursing, Architecture, and Law. Excelsia University College identified research-based PhD opportunities, while Deakin University explored technical models for Engineering.

Canadian Partnerships

  • Sheridan College presented specialized opportunities in Cybersecurity and IT, while the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) focused on innovative Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and technical training in Engineering and Hospitality.

The dialogue emphasized the importance of building solid foundations through curriculum mapping and specialized exchanges to ensure sustainable long-term partnerships. These initiatives are designed to provide UC students and faculty with access to world-class training and virtual collaboration tools, such as VR anatomy labs and international research networks.

This exploratory session advances Goal 4: Quality Education by seeking to integrate world-class academic standards into the local curriculum. Furthermore, the activity reinforces Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals by establishing a robust network of potential institutional partners across two continents, dedicated to shared educational excellence.
