The University of the Cordilleras (UC) has solidified its position as a leader in internationalization by becoming a founding member of the Consortium for Study Abroad in the Philippines (CSAP). The official launch of the consortium, held alongside the 78th Anniversary of the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF), took place on March 24, 2026, at SPACE at One Ayala, Makati City.
Representing the university at this historic event were UC President Dr. Nancy M. Flores, Dean of the College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA) Dr. Irene G. Florendo, and Director of the Global Engagements Office (GEO) Dr. Christian Pascual.
UC is one of only 15 universities nationwide, and the sole institution from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), selected to join this prestigious Fulbright Commission initiative. As a founding member, UC will play a pivotal role in streamlining opportunities for American students, scholars, and professionals to engage with the Philippines through short-term and semester exchange programs.
The CSAP initiative provides partner institutions with vital support in international marketing, compliance assistance, and academic partnership management. For the University of the Cordilleras, this partnership means a direct increase in the quality and frequency of international exchange participants arriving in the region, fostering a deeper cultural and academic immersion for the global community.
This milestone reflects UC’s growing leadership in the global academic landscape and its unwavering commitment to expanding world-class learning opportunities for its faculty and students.
By opening the region to international scholars and fostering high-level academic exchange, UC directly supports Goal 4: Quality Education through the internationalization of its curriculum and research environment. The initiative also aligns with Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by promoting the Cordillera region as a global destination for cultural and educational heritage. Finally, the university’s role as a founding member of CSAP is a testament to Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, showcasing the strength of the long-standing collaboration between UC and PAEF.
